Abelien Visser is a professional Fine Artist with over 20 years of international experience.
Specialised in abstract painting, expressing all elements of nature and landscapes, she is also fascinated in figurative portraits and still lives.
She experiments with different materials like ink, charcoal, oil- and acrylic paint.
On the canvas she creates her own world and tries to reveal what is hidden; leading you into her artistic world. It is all about creating a balance of colour, form and different paint use, resulting in an exciting composition clearly marking her own distinct style. Her paintings are filled with suggestive shapes, delicate, expressive lines, combined with thick and thin paint layers and interacting with the application of paper textures on canvas. Her abstract art is vibrant, intense, refined, yet powerful.

Educated in Fine Arts at the Amsterdam Hogeschool voor de Kunsten makes Abelien (1973) a professional artist and a qualified teacher in Art and Art History. At her graduation exhibition, one of her drawings was selected by Hendrik Driessen, director of De Pont, Museum for Contemporary Art in Tilburg, for his private collection.
After her graduation, Abelien was selected by Art Primeur, an organisation that is seeking a new and talented art generation from the different Art Schools in The Netherlands. A succesful exhibition followed in Dordrecht. There were plenty of possibilities for her in The Netherlands but she decided to move to Sydney, Australia in 1997. During her stay in Sydney she has had several exhibitions but also studied portraits at the Julian Ashton Art School and Graphic Design at the Computer Graphics College.
In 2002 Abelien moved back to The Netherlands, where she works as an artist for both private and corporate clients. In 2012 she got a commission to make a portrait of the retiring mayor of the municipality of Epe where she is also member of the Councils’ art committee, advising the municipality of Epe on new art purchases.
Her latest exhibition was in Bologna on request of Paola Trevisan, Trevisan Internation Art. There she received the first price for the high artistic quality of her paintings.
